A LITTLE PAIN

A little pain,

a little anger

can be motivating.

Just look at the thousands,

marching,

donating,

working

for what they had always believed in,

but had mostly kept quiet about

until they wondered if

their freedoms

and

their rights,

would be taken away.

Pain and anger moved them out the door.

It can also happen when

we look in the mirror

or see a picture of ourselves.

The pain of how far we have let ourselves go

makes us decide it’s time to get in shape.

The doldrums of our relationship

can push us to make it better.

A little pain,

a little anger,

work to get us going,

but they are just starter fluid

to a cold engine.

You cannot sustain

positive inspiration

based on pain.

But it might just get you off the couch.
