HATCHING

Tight quarters.

Dark in here.

I need to move.

I need to be free.

What is this keeping me in?

I begin to struggle.

I peck hard against the barrier.

First tentatively.

Then, harder.

A crack!

Some light!

Peck harder.

Push with my whole body.

More light.

More freedom.

Then, I’m out.

Air. Light. Space.

Now what?

Like a bird has to crack it’s own egg

in order to be hatched,

our life’s struggles

can make us stronger,

and lead to re-birth.

But it’s going to take everything you’ve got

and

no

one

can

do it

for

you.
