GET UP WHEN YOU WAKE UP

When I woke up today,

I didn’t feel like getting up.

I didn’t feel rested

and

raring to go.

I didn’t just jump out of bed

with power and purpose.

I didn’t feel any of the things

“driven” people

are supposed to feel.

The truth of the matter is

I’ve only read about those kinds of people.

And the people I’ve met who said

they jump out of bed every day?

I have a strong sense they were posturing.

Not helpful.

A few years ago,

I decided to quit thinking

I had failed if I wasn’t

maniacally motivated first thing.

I decided to circumvent

my waking feelings and thoughts.

I made a commitment to simply

get up when I woke up.

Movement changes

our thoughts and feelings.

So I don’t stay in bed feeling unmotivated.

I just

get up

and

move

without thinking.

And by the time I’ve made the coffee

the day is already in the win column.

Get up when you wake up

and

just see what happens.
