We often think
what will fulfill,
what will give purpose,
what will bring happiness,
is found
in someone else.
So we run after them.
We chase.
We court.
We romance.
All the while we are seeking
someone who can give us
something only we can give ourselves.
And so when we have “caught”
the object of our desire,
we are often left
despondent,
disappointed.
We forget,
relationships only amplify human emotions,
they don’t bring them into existence.
If you want
fulfillment,
purpose,
happiness,
the one you must pursue
is
you.
