Volume Six: Ashley Diaz Mejias
Dropping Keys is a podcast conversation with real people about keys to life, leadership, love, and whatever else we get into.
Ashley is an author, pastor, mother, wife, and so much more.
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Ashley began challenging systemic bias while working as the educational director for a small nonprofit after college graduation.
She co-pastors Voices of Jubilee, a worshiping community in the Bon Air juvenile detention center in Richmond, VA. This community includes 24 incarcerated youth, correctional officers, returning citizens, former corrections officers, and those longing for the liberating Word of the Gospel.
She also works on the team growing the Richmond Community Bail Fund, which received over $1M in donations in a 6 week period in mid-2020.
Ashley shares her grief and hope for the "beautiful. rowdy. prisoners."
She talks about not being original or being a superstar.
