the Way to live
winds these strands

CLIMBING CONTENTMENT
We are told:
challenge and climb,
fear contentment,
leave it behind.
But never stopping to
survey the view
means you’ll never be
where you’re
climbing to.
DO NOT CLING
Doing the work -
difficult enough.
Expecting others to appreciate it -
frustrating.
So
do the work,
do not cling and
let it become
it’s own thing.
WHAT DESIRE WANTED
Everything I saw,
I desired.
When I acquired,
I desired differently.
Later, I began to understand
what desire wanted
was what I could
not see.
DIFFERENCE MADE
Phone rings,
sick child,
cancer,
it’s difficult to keep going.
But it’s the only thing that
makes a difference.
GROWTH LINE
Growth is not
a line
extending up and to the right,
just ask the
flowers.
SHADOW VALLEY
The valley of the shadow
is either in
the rear view mirror
or
the windshield.
Keep driving.
NAP DIVINE
To sleep is human;
to nap, divine.
AFTER A NAP
After a nap,
even taking out the trash is
resplendent.
SLEEP REMEDY
To sleep well
is the best remedy.
