ATTENTION SEEKER

How can you get attention?

You could

dress,

speak,

act

outrageously.

You might

yell,

jump up and down,

make a scene.

You could

post 100 times a day.

Or

you could show up,

do good work,

be vulnerable,

and become

Indispensable.

The choice is yours.

Every. Single. Day.

IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS

We often think

what will fulfill,

what will give purpose,

what will bring happiness,

is found

in someone else.

So we run after them.

We chase.

We court.

We romance.

All the while we are seeking

someone who can give us

something only we can give ourselves.

And so when we have “caught”

the object of our desire,

we are often left

despondent,

disappointed.

We forget,

relationships only amplify human emotions,

they don’t bring them into existence.

If you want

fulfillment,

purpose,

happiness,

the one you must pursue

is

you.

A STARRING ROLE

Every client

interaction

has embedded questions:

Should I hire you,

entrust you,

hire you again?

So if you don’t understand

you are auditioning for a starring role

in your client’s life

and you don’t

ask for the part,

you will rarely

get chosen.

Every conversation is an audition.

Break a leg.

MUCH TO BE DONE FOR FREEDOM

The things many have

worked so hard to get:

freedom,

opportunity,

independence

are often taken for granted

by those who have benefitted

by the sacrifice of others.

And still,

in “the land of the free,

and the home of the brave,”

so many have locked themselves up

in their own minds,

have told themselves

opportunity has passed them by,

have pushed people away

and called it independence.

We must never forget

what has already been accomplished,

the battles lost and won,

and know there is still

much to be done.

AUDITION

Every day

with

every customer,

every client,

every co-worker,

every acquaintance,

is an audition

for the role you wish to play

in their lives.

This is not an audition for a role

someone else has written.

This is the role

you write for yourself.

You have to decide how you want to

show up

in other’s lives.

You decide how you want to

serve,

encourage,

support,

and lead.

And then, you audition.

Sometimes it will go well.

Other times, not so much.

The reviews you get

and give to yourself

send you back

for rewrites

and

rehearsal.

And your character

continues

to

develop.

ONE LITTLE PROMISE

When you are having trouble

believing in yourself,

finding inspiration,

keeping going,

make one promise to yourself -

one little promise -

and keep it.

The promise could be

to get up on time,

to do one pushup,

to make that phone call.

Once you have kept that promise,

make a promise for tomorrow.

Just keeping

one small promise to yourself

Every. Single. Day.

will help you

become

belief,

inspiration

and forward motion.

And then you will realize,

your days have always

been filled

with

promise.

THE USUAL

When was the last time

your body,

your spirit,

your intuition,

was telling you to

stop

or

start

something,

but you disregarded

and did the usual.

Maybe it was to

stop

all the

anger

bottled up inside

or

start

getting more rest,

but

as usual,

you just stuffed it down

and

told yourself rest was for those

who didn’t know how to hustle

Maybe it was to tell someone,

“I love you.”

or

ask someone,

“Are you ok?”,

but,

as usual,

you thought,

“I don’t need to tell them, they already know.”

and

“Do I really want to know the answer?”

Maybe it was to

stop,

just

stop

for a while,

but,

as usual,

you worried that you would never

get started again.

Maybe it was to

start

listening to

your body,

your spirit,

your intuition,

but,

as usual,

you disregarded.

Today, don’t have the usual.

CREATING SPACES

The people around you

want to be heard,

want to contribute

want to serve.

When you create spaces

where this can occur,

everyone gets better

and the mission is served.

But there will be times,

after everyone has had their say,

you will need to choose a different way.

And if you have created a culture of

trust

and

respect,

you won’t worry about

what happens

next.

WHEN IT’S WORK NO LONGER

On the day you go to your job

and realize it is no longer

“Work”,

when there is

meaning

and

purpose,

a mission to be served.

On that day,

when it seems you’ve found your muse,

savor it,

enjoy it,

for it seems easy to lose.

Soon there will come other days,

when you will realize

the most meaningful work

is even more

challenging

and

difficult.
