Today is unlikely.
If the tilt of the earth was just a degree different,
no today.
If it were just a little closer or further from the sun,
no today.
So the fact that the earth exists
and the sun came up is unlikely.
Yet we take it for granted.
You are unlikely.
We cannot fathom the number of
connections,
processes,
chemical reactions,
decisions
that combined to equal
our life.
Yet we take it for granted.
Maybe on this unlikely day,
with your unlikely self,
you should do some unlikely things
and show this unlikely world
what it means to honor the gift of
unlikelihood.
