When reading the label
on a can of
beans,
soup,
or cereal,
we know the list of ingredients is an approximation,
at best.
Yet, we label
the humans we meet
at first sighting
and believe our list to be accurate.
Then, we adhere that label
to entire classes of people
and think we know what they consist of,
what can be made of them.
Instead, what if the first label we applied to all people was:
Extremely valuable,
Handle with care,
Worthy of honor,
Worthy of opportunity?
What could we make with each other then?
