When we focus on meeting the needs of others
only
to get our needs met,
it’s not love,
it’s business.
Like the oldest profession.
A transaction.
Quid pro quo.
Unfortunately, many people think this is what love is.
They ask, “What have you done for me lately?”
They keep a scorecard.
And when it becomes too unbalanced,
they exit the game.
This is what love isn’t.
