A judge sits on the bench of our mind;

a tyrant, with a Napoleon complex,

weighing in on every

thought, sight and sound.

“Nice hair”

“Did she look in the mirror before she left the house?”

“What were you thinking””

“They are all

better looking,

more successful,

(fill in the blank with something negative)

than you.”

Every moment of every day,

court is in session.

We think we are the only ones on trial.

The unspoken truth:

Everyone has their own courtroom.

So while each of our lives is unique,

our journey peculiar,

we all face the judge.

And when we do,

we realize we are hearing our own voice;

we judge ourselves.

The question is:

What will you do with the judge?
