GUT IT OUT

We clench our teeth and push harder.

 

We think it will make us stronger.

 

In many cases, it just makes the problem last longer.

 

With the clench and push,

we stuff everything down.

 

We think it’s hidden away,

packed and sealed for the rest of our days.

 

Over time,

the container can no longer hold

and then we explode.  

 

There is a time to push through,

to use our will to make a way.

There is also a time to get help,

a partner, a therapist, a coach.  

 

And like most things, earlier is better

than later.
