Cardboard boxes,

pot, pans,

and sticks

are all a child needs for play.

Then, they grow up.

Play becomes frivolous, an indulgence.

The toys get more expensive.

Soon, the adult has forgotten the joy

of chasing a ball,

banging a pot with a stick,

hiding in a cardboard box.

We all need to play,

unstructured time with the only purpose

of simply being there.

When was the last time you played?
